Internet Literacy

Research by Natalya Sinitskaya

Concluding Remarks

The Internet constitutes a prodigiously developing space of new literary practices. It changes our ways of accessing and using information, our ways of reading and writing texts and constructing meanings.

It is my strong belief that participating in Internet literary space can enrich our encounters with the information domain and provide opportunities for development of new valuable reading abilities, critical thinking and evaluation skills.

The euphoria of the new information space should not blind us from the potential challenges that the Internet offers for the authorship, credibility of sources, accessibility of information, and validating the use of sources.

Through careful consideration of both possibilities and challenges that Internet offers we can incorporate aspects of Internet literacy into the development of literary skills of our students. Thus, we will arm them with a set of skills that will be valuable and indispensable in the society of democratic information access.
